Following a record-breaking year in 2021, the tech industry has shown no signs of slowing down with a diverse cohort of finalists announced for this year’s INCITE Awards.

Twenty-nine WA-based companies and organisations have been announced as finalists. They range from major companies such as BHP – the world’s largest mining company – and energy provider Horizon Power to Oqea, a mental health app, and ClimateClever, a carbon footprint calculator.

The longest-running Tech Awards program in the state, the INCITE Awards was founded in 1991 seeking to put WA tech on the map.

Edith Cowan University, Curtin University and the University of Western Australia have all been nominated for various awards, as has Marble Bar Primary School.

“We are all so excited at Marble Bar and what a fantastic acknowledgement of our community, industry and economic partners working together on transformational and culturally responsive STEM innovation,” Marble Bar Primary School Principal Shane Wilson told Startup News.

“Such a privilege to be part of this and can’t wait for the INCITE presentation to meet and hear about all the other finalists. A wonderful program!”

Chief Judge, Bob Cross, commented that the panel, as usual, had a tough job ahead of them selecting the winners.

“We have a number of impressive finalists from a diverse range of industries and sectors across all of this year’s product, education and startup categories,” he said.

We wish all this year’s finalists every success, as participating in the INCITE Awards can open doors to life changing opportunities – for those who make the most of them.

Assuro, Aussie Holiday Stays, Gridcognition and Ziksu are the four finalists for Startup of the Year.

“As a bootstrapped startup challenging multinational competitors, this provides us with a huge boost,” Amanda Walker, CEO of Aussie Holiday Stays, told Startup News.

Being recognised alongside these other outstanding start ups is an honour and an exciting indication of what the future holds.
