It has been an eventful few weeks in Perth following a little old thing such as the AFL Grand Final Announcement at Optus Stadium, but let’s not forget there was also the largest digital marketing conference in WA, State of Social ’21, held at the same venue, last month.

Every year since its inception three years ago, the State of Social Conference aims to bring the most dynamic and thought-provoking digital industry experts from around the world to discuss and learn best in practice digital and social media marketing. This year was no different.

The two-day conference held over the 24 and 25 August 2021 was jam-packed with keynote speakers from diverse industries and experiences. With over 20 sessions across the two days, the conference’s near-500 guests were treated to updates from some of the hottest topics in social media and digital marketing.

The theme of this year’s State of Social is ‘Tame the Chaos‘, and focused on finding opportunities amidst a global pandemic.

Some interstate guests even flew over and quarantined in order to attend in person. The virtual ticket option allowed delegates from all over the world to participate with international attendees as close as New Zealand and as far away as Florida.

Meg Coffey, State of Social ’21 Founder says that this year’s event “was quite possibly the best yet”.

“I’m absolutely thrilled with the success of state of social ’21. it has been such a hectic year and i kept waiting for the rug to be pulled from underneath us, even at the last minute. we did it though and i think this year’s event was quite possibly the best yet.”

The calibre of speakers was incredible and it didn’t matter that some had to join us via zoom, their content transcended any distance. I am beyond grateful to all of our speakers, they absolutely blew me away with their knowledge.

The feedback from the event has been glowing across social media since the event’s closure, praising the buzzing atmosphere and many learning opportunities from industry leaders including Aviation American Gin highflying gin-ius Adrian Molina, who shared the need for brands to act like showrunners and creating a storyline that customers can invest in.

the best content isn’t planned, it’s all about adapting the show.

The event returns in 2022 and Meg has high hopes for it, as she aims to bring State of Social to become the largest digital marketing event in the Asia-Pacific region.
