Theraply is an online counselling service, newly launched in Perth, that aims to provide high quality, secure, and affordable therapy to everyone, no matter where they are.
The app allows users to connect with professional counsellors from the comfort of their own home. All the psychologists have no less than 2 years of experience and are ready to help.
Personal Story
After overcoming depression through counselling, Theraply founder Catherine Swale strongly believes that anyone should be able to access professional support anytime, and from anywhere.
This dream of an all-inclusive mental health support system gave birth to Theraply.
In 2012, Catherine started battling depression. Even though it was a first-time experience, she had witnessed some of her loved ones pass through a similar ordeal.
After trying different options, she decided to go for counselling. That decision marked the beginning of a remarkable transformation.
“Therapy completely changed my life. It opened my eyes to things that I never knew about myself,” she told Startup News.
Since then, she had nursed the idea to make professional counselling and support more accessible and affordable in Australia.
Pandemic Push
The 2020 lockdown made mental health support accessibility even more challenging.
The need for flexible mental health support had never been more urgent. This made Catherine even more determined to make therapy accessible.
With almost a decade of experience in tech, Catherine started working with Sian Reed, an experienced Alcohol and Other Drugs Counsellor and Provisional Psychologist, and fellow tech co-founder with Club Soda.
Finally, in December 2020, Theraply was launched, an online counselling and mental health support platform dedicated to giving Australians a better life.
Here’s a review from a thankful user:
I’ve never been to therapy before and I found it a lot easier than I thought. My therapist was so nice to talk to. I don’t know why I didn’t try it before.
