An Australian awards program that aims to highlight the achievements of some of the country’s most remarkable women in the small business sector has revealed this year’s winners.
In its second consecutive year of operation, The Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards celebrated the achievements of around 60 category winners from a broad section of industries and four individual categories on Saturday, September 23.
Among the victors is Perth-based Sobriety and Grey Area Drinking Coach Sarah Rusbatch, who took top gong in the Coaching category.
Sarah received formal recognition for her support of many women at the Awards National Presentation Evening Gala event at the Western Sydney Conference Centre.
As a former ‘Grey Area Drinker’ (those who have a daily habit of drinking in social settings or when at home alone), she quit drinking alcohol over four years ago. Sarah said she is “on a mission to support as many women as possible to change their relationship with alcohol, reconnect to themselves and create a happier, healthier and more fulfilling life.”
Grey Area Drinkers may not display typical signs of alcohol and may seem to have a firm grasp on their drinking habits, and are not ‘addicted’ to alcohol in a clinical sense.
Female Leaders
Data from the Australian Government shows women are at the helm of one-third of the 3.3 million small businesses currently operating across the nation.
