Imagine that together, mining people can make the most of the world’s natural resources for the benefit of all, Mineler’s co-founder Paul Faix said.
In the spirit of discovery, collaboration and shared opportunity, Mineler’s ambitious new social marketplace has gone live.
With over 60,000 pre-registered members, we aim to build Mineler into a global platform for mining people and companies to connect, share knowledge and bid for work and supply contracts, Faix said.
The unique platform is based on the geolocation of all active global mining projects placed onto a digital map of the world. Members can share their work history and experiences at each site, and interact with others who have a connection there. By building their own global profile, members can also create a mining industry-specific CV similar to LinkedIn which is targeted to companies in their field.
Mining consultant and Mineler co-founder Ben Auld said the global mining industry is facing seismic structural change.
Growing costs, lower productivity, skills shortages, and remote worksites have created a genuine need for more flexible workforces and smarter, more innovative company operations, and Mineler provides that, Auld said.
Mining operators can post work tasks which members bid for and complete, similar to Freelancer or Airtasker. Examples include anything from a simple manual task, to a full service or supply contract.
The Mineler social marketplace allows members to discover a global selection of contacts and work opportunities, while mining companies can access a flexible, crowdsourced workforce and international supplier base. This works because sharing ideas, creating competition for tenders and hiring workers on demand for specific tasks makes companies more productive, reduces costs and creates opportunities.
Now more than ever, knowledge is becoming as valuable a commodity as anything that can be dug out of the ground. Mineler is positioned at the intersection of the mining industry and the knowledge economy – with today’s launch, we are very excited about the future, Paul Faix concluded.
