April may be a month of public holidays (Easter and ANZAC Day), but it’s also the month to get your awards applications in, with two annual awards programs closing over the next few weeks, plus three more during May and June.
Yes, we know you’re busy, but promotion of your startup via an awards finals place or win can be worth more than money and effort. There are many other benefits (for your team, company, investors, and you), so awards may be well worth considering. You have to be in it to win it, as they say.
Just putting IN an application can be good for the soul, as it is a great way to look back and say ‘ Hey, look what we did – that’s pretty cool!’ Win, lose or draw – it’s galvanising for the team. In fact, get the team involved in helping put the application together.
Closing in April!
Two award programs are already open for applications, and will be closing in the next few weeks:
- WAITTA’s Incite Awards – the big one; 30+ years celebrating ICT successes in WA, these industry awards are now open, and applications close 21st April. A black tie event is planned for 4 August. Look on the Incite Awards website for more info and application details. Winners of these State awards go into the national iAwards, and from there can win entry into APAC awards.
- Premier’s Science Awards – as already mentioned on Startup News, the state government’s sciencey and research awards are open now, and applications must be in by 10am AWST 27 April. Go here for more info, and to apply.
Opening soon, Closing in June!
Three more awards programs are already open, or will open soon, and close in June:
- Curtinnovation Awards: for past, current and future Curtin students, researchers, grads, industry partners, and $100K prize pool, applications are open now, close 5pm AWST 2 June. Go here for more info.
- InnovationAus Awards: a national award, for which WA has not seen many entries. C’mon WA! A big shindig in Sydney in November awaits, with applications due by 2 June. Go here for InnovationAus Awards.
- WA Innovator of the Year Awards 2023: running since 2006, this prestigious awards program offers several free workshops for finalists, as part of just being a finalist, plus videos, photography and $70K in prize money, ending with a swish awards night at Frasers in November. Applications open on 2 May, and for more information, go to the state government’s WAIOTY website.
OK, don’t say we didn’t tell you. These come around but once a year.
And, break a leg…
