Welcome to SkillGym by Skills of the Modern Age. Every fortnight we bring you a 1-hour online workout to keep your innovation skills sharp as we create the future of work together.
Creative ideation is at the heart of the design process: empathising with our users is only powerful if we can find new solutions for them, and prototyping and testing are only valuable if we have strong ideas to prototype. But if you’ve ever been asked to sit down and just ‘be creative’, you’ll know it’s not that simple!
In this SkillGym workout, we’ll explore the power of constraints to unlock more creative and more impactful ideas. Counterintuitively, introducing constraints on your thinking can help designers break out of groupthink and get past obvious solutions, building your creative confidence at the same time.
