Landgate has announced the 2021 SPUR Location Grants Program applications are now open until July 30, 2021.

Previous winners of SPUR grants include blockchain fintech Moneycatcha, transport disruptor Instatruck, geospatial analytics innovator Ovass, and online space sharing platform SpacetoCo. Udrew, Markr and SpaceDraft were among the winners in 2020.

The program is a state government initiative, seeking to support local businesses using location data in new and emerging ways that will add value to the land and property sector. Up to six participants will be awarded a $25,000 grant plus access to information sessions delivered by Landgate’s partner agencies and networking opportunities within the WA government.

Through the 2021 SPUR Location Grants Program, Landgate will continue to support small to medium enterprises, tech start-ups, emerging businesses, researchers, and not-for-profit organisations working with location data.

What is the program focusing on?

The SPUR Location Grants Program focuses on applications that can demonstrate how ideas harness location datasets to deliver benefits to the WA community through data management and modelling, information sharing and collaboration, improved operational efficiency, and emerging digital technologies. Applicants require to demonstrate how their proposal is unique and explain how it uses location data to deliver improvements to the land and property sector.

“Location data, also known as geospatial data or geographic information, is the data or information that identifies the geographic location of features and boundaries on Earth, such as natural or constructed features, oceans, and more”
