With more startups being established than ever before, it’s important to cut through all the noise, gather user feedback and complete some early market research in order to help validate ideas.

User feedback and market research helps to avoid early mistakes such as developing a product that is not wanted or will not be used by its intended audience.

Even when ideas are in the development stage, it is important to gather early potential users or sign ups to a product or service. This can be done via a call to action.

A key call to action is to have a form that can collect information such an as email address on channels such as the company website. To optimise user experience design, the button that leads to the form should be a different colour to your branding colours in order to stand out.

This can be done by referencing your business (via hyperlink) through a question that is related to the niche of the business.  This will not only help drive traffic but also provide a chance for the business to become more of a thought leader in the space.

Betalist

Betalist is a site that allows early adopters to discover newly launched startups and startup founders to share their ideas and receive early user feedback.

Their sole purpose is to provide an avenue to reach an audience who are on the hunt for new technology.

Ideas can be posted through the application form and responses will be generated in up to a month.

Ship by Product Hunt

Similar to Betalist, Ship by Product Hunt helps launch ideas and collect subscribers.

Startups, once subscribed, are given access to toolkits to help build their brand with features such as email forms to embed in their website, scheduled product launches, reports and analytics.

 Ship by Product Hunt also allows users to transition into launching directly onto Product Hunt and enter the startup market.

The service does offer a free 7 day trial option where surveys, feedback and integration of third party applications can be tested by users to see if their service is right for their startup before committing to a subscription. 

Guest Posting

Guest posting can not only help generate traffic back to your own website but also increase your domain authority which helps in your long run.

It’s important to be guest posting to an audience that is related to your niche. Additionally, make sure the landing page you link it to has a way to catch subscribers.

This could be done via linking the article to your home page or having something like an exit widget in place.

For example, if your startup is selling to marketing personnel, you should be guest posting on blogs that focus on marketing.
