From us here at Startup News, thanks for your support this year as we sought to reboot ourselves. In 2018, we published 257 stories and interviews, 10 podcast episodes, reached 32,000 people, gave out 3 awards, held an event and generally promoted WA’s wonderful startup scene.
Startup News has been back this year, and we’ve loved it. In 2018, we published 200 more stories than we had the year before, launched a podcast, held a party and over 32,000 unique users visited the website.
But it’s not about us, it’s about you.
We are continually inspired by what you are all doing out there in startupland. Despite the relatively low level of interest from some quarters – investors, media and others – startup founders and staff keep ploughing on, doing what they are doing, regardless.
It takes a certain type of person to take on all that risk, heartache, the set backs, the knock downs… but as much as you own all the difficulties, you also own the triumphs.
It’s important work that you are doing.
The global and local economy is changing. Slowly and irrevocably – because that’s how the greatest changes happen – consumers and businesses are turning to subscription-based and other online/tech services that help them do what they want to do, whether for productivity reasons, to enter new markets, offer new services, keep themselves organised, purchase stuff or just have fun.
Meanwhile, you have been beavering away solving customer problems perhaps only you can see.
We Salute You!
Stay true to your course.
If you can take some time off with family and friends, get to the beach, watch an outdoor movie, drink some good wine, sit back and relax, sleep, laugh, go for a walk or a run, travel … whatever gets you away, then do it.
You know the support of friends and family, supporters and investors, believers is critical to keeping strong and your ultimate success.
Well done. Keep going. Come back recharged.
Happy festive season one and all.
Thanks to our amazing sponsors (ECU The Link, BDO and Tekkon) we’ll be back in the New Year! ?????
