WA-based cyber firm Red Piranha signs a big deal in Indonesia, Sapien Cyber raises millions and AustCyber Node gets to work…
Earlier this month Australia signed a Free Trade Agreement with Indonesia, and at the same signing ceremony, a WA tech company – Red Piranha – also signed an agreement to supply its services via a major Indonesian business partner.
Professtama Development Group has committed to procure US$5M of Red Piranha’s ‘Crystal Eye‘ cyber security platform over the next two years, through an exclusive partnering arrangement.
Red Piranha was picked out of 240 Australian companies to represent Australia in the signing ceremony with the declaration aimed to highlight “five pillars”: the economy, maritime cooperation, people-to-people contact, regional cooperation and security cooperation including cyber security and combating terrorism,
With these announcements, the parties aim to work for mutual commercial benefit, to bring new cyber security technical capabilities to Indonesia, and to deepen Indonesia’s human capital in this area, as an important foundation for Indonesia’s modern economy.
In another announcement for Perth’s developing cyber sector, John Poynton-backed Sapien Cyber took a 10% investment from Woodside recently, for a reported “several million dollars”.
Sapien spun out from ECU in 2016 and is based in Joondalup, which also is location to the brand new government-funded AustCyber Node, a not for profit organisation now headed up by Dr Ian Martinus – he’s been in the job two months – which looks to develop projects around cyber security.
