// When it comes to global partners, there are none larger in the market research space than Nielsen…
Perth startup Uno Group has just announced a new partnership with the world’s largest market research company Nielsen.
Uno Group was one of the first startups to come out of Perth Accelerator program Plus Eight and has gone on to disrupt the ‘data insights’ industry.
They also featured in an episode of our ‘Startup West’ podcast last year.
In just under 12 months, Uno Group has become Australia’s largest receipt panel with over one million shopping trips captured, analysing a new receipt every 10 seconds.
Uno Group and Nielsen are looking to break the mould on retail-related data and insights by creating a solution with this partnership that uses peoples’ actual purchase receipts to understand shopper behaviour within the omni-channel environment.
Uno Group’s new technology combined with Nielsen’s experience and robust Homescan panel data, enables the duo to create this unique and game-changing offer.
While a retailer may have access to its own customer data through receipts, it does not have this information on the market, or its competitors.
Co-founder and CEO of Uno Group Tyler Spooner told Startup News he was delighted with the tie up.
“It has been great working with a market leader like Nielsen,” said Tyler.
“As a young startup you don’t know what you don’t know and the team at Nielsen has been great at helping us understand that. When you combine their industry knowledge and sales team with our technology and speed on innovation, it is very powerful.”

Michael Keenan joins Uno Group board
In other news, Uno Group have also announced the addition of the former federal MP for Stirling Michael Keenan to their board.
Michael was a member of the Australian Parliament for 15 years (2004-2019). During that time, he served as Minister for Human Services and Digital Transformation and Minister for Justice and Counter terrorism.
As Minister for Human Services and Digital Transformation Michael focussed on improving the service delivery provided across the Australian Government particularly through new technology. Michael was educated at Murdoch University, Charles University in Prague, the Australian National University and Cambridge University. He is currently the CEO of Sana Living.
