A cross-section of tech people, industry and government thought leaders will meet cutting-edge technology in the cyber security space. Not only will be this showcase of how cyber security enables all industries in WA, the emphasis will very much be on our own sovereign security capabilities across corporations, government agencies and in small businesses.
Cyber attacks cost the WA economy at least $150 million per year, with estimates suggesting a single cyber attack costs a small business around $7,000.
There will be a floor of 28 booths displaying Australian and WA cyber companies, as well as 15 cyber startups in a startup hub.
Speakers include the former PM Malcolm Turnbull, as well as WA Innovation Minister Don Punch, CEO of AustCyber Michelle Price, Shadow Assistant Minister Tim Watts MP, CyberCX Chief Strategy Officer Alastair MacGibbon, Averto Product Manager Priyal Bhosale and Strategic Partnerships Manager Sophia Pace.
“Cybercrime has no borders. We need to keep driving innovation in cyber security to ensure we are protected against growing global threats,” said Minister Punch in a statement.
“Building local capability and resilience is important for not only protecting Western Australian industry, but also to create new jobs and opportunities for economic growth.
“The summit theme, ‘Cyber-Enabled Industry’, has been developed to drive discussions about issues related to cyber threats, and how they impact critical infrastructure, defence, law enforcement, health and education.”
The summit will be hosted by the WA AustCyber Innovation Hub, in partnership with the WA Data Science Innovation Hub and the MTPConnect WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub.
