// Despite the global pandemic, London is getting ready to once again turn into the hottest innovation hub on the planet to unite tech, talent and enablers.
Calling WA tech companies to join the London Tech Week Virtual Trade Mission!
Last year five WA startup founders Kym Atkins (The Volte), Graeme Speak (Bankvault), Elio Adragna (Jugglr), Michael Le Page (Exodus Space Systems) and David Martin (Power Ledger) visited London Tech Week in person thanks for a $30K grant from the state government.
This year, the WA government (through the Department of JTSI), is on the lookout for ten innovative WA tech companies wanting to expand to the UK, and will host its inaugural FREE Virtual Mission to London Tech Week.
Participants will join a series of LTW webinars arranged by the UK Department for International Trade (DIT) from 7-10 September. This will be followed by bespoke online sessions from 15-17 September for WA participants delivered by Newfound, specialists in supporting market entry, expansion and hiring for tech companies in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
Applications close on Friday 21 August. To apply please click here.
London Tech Week.
London Tech Week is Europe’s largest technology festival with events taking place across London. In 2019 LTW attracted over 58,000 attendees from 95 countries, hosting 300 events with a digital reach of 300 million people.
The conference has transitioned to a virtual format for 2020 and participants will receive a virtual curated programme over 3 nights filled with content aimed at an Australian and New Zealand audience.
“London Tech Week 2019 exceeded my expectations. There is no other tech conference in the world that is more open to diversity and for this reason the UK continues to outperform Europe VC investment, topping £6bn last year,” said Tess Thomas, Director of Investment, Australia and NZ, UK’s Department for International Trade.
“2019 was my second London Tech week and it was just as value packed as the first. There is no shortage of events to attend and people to meet – I highly recommend London Tech Week.”
Steve Baxter, Founder & Investor, Transition Level Investments, ex Shark Tank.
“London Tech Week is a key event in our calendar and a must-attend for tech companies wanting to connect and network with clients, suppliers, and investors. We’ve taken important lessons away from previous LTW events and adjusted our strategy accordingly.” said Shendon Ewans, CEO & Co-Founder, Gobbill.
What’s it all about, Alfie?
Key themes will include capital raising, visas, R&D and grants, sector updates and opportunities available in the regions outside of London.
The programme will be aimed at the following streams:
- Medtech/digital health
- Fintech and Regtech
- Future technology (AI, Cyber, Blockchain, IoT, Robotics, Big Data)
- Agritech
- Energy/Cleantech
- Other (eg. AR/VR, Creative Tech/Media, Sportstech, Proptech)
The virtual mission will provide opportunities for participants to hear from key players in the tech ecosystem and understand the opportunities in the UK post COVID-19.
As this will be on a criteria basis and completely free, only a select number of spots are available for this specially curated programme for ambitious, globally scalable tech businesses, match-fit for UK market entry.
UK tech companies received a record-breaking £10.1bn of investment in 2019.
This, combined with the UK government’s COVID-19 measures to support the country’s tech industry, means now is the opportune time to consider expanding into the UK.
