Applications for WA’s top tech accelerator – Spacecubed’s Plus Eight Accelerator – close January 28th… could it help YOUR startup to scale up?

The Plus Eight accelerator program – now in its third year in Perth – is a partnership between Spacecubed and Telstra’s accelerator, muru-D, bringing a global network of mentors, investors and partners and a pool of $400,000 seed funding to support high growth startups each year.

The program is designed to prepare entrepreneurs for launching into global markets.

Program coordinator Kate Kirwin told Startup News: “The Plus Eight alumni are going from strength to strength and I am personally excited to see what 2019 brings.

“Perth has some incredible startup talent, which was evident when we were in San Francisco [last year].

“We are looking for companies who are willing to think big, and tackle problems worth solving”.

Over the last two years, the Plus Eight program has had solid wins from their alumni – including Humm, who, having just graduated from the Berkeley SkyDeck Accelerator program, are now in Silicon Valley making unique and innovative products.

Another alum Unocart (previously Feedmee) are leading the way in grocery deliveries, with a presence in  both Perth and Sydney.

The second Plus Eight cohort also included SpacetoCo who featured on Shark Tank – and attracted a $200K investment offer from Steve Baxter – as well as 2018 WA Innovator of the Year Udrew.

Tim Brewer, founder of Functionally, and Entrepreneur-in-Residence of the 2017 and 2018 programs, shared his tips on what it takes to be accelerator ready.

“First thing, they’ve got to look at their product, they need traction with their product,” said Tim.

“Too many people aren’t getting out there and testing their product with the market.”

The Plus Eight team will be on hand from the 21st to 23rd January to answer any questions about the program, investment terms, application criteria, and help you complete your application.

Limited spaces are available – please book a spot with the Plus Eight team here (in person and Zoom video-conferencing options are available).
