The city of Joondalup is organising a professional skill-building development program called Joondalup Innovation Challenge (JIC) for students to build interchangeable skills that increase the possibility of being employed in the future.
From 5th July to 9th July 2021, the Challenge welcomes more than 200 participants from seven institutions around WA. They are then charged with coming up with innovative ideas and solutions to real-world problems.
During the challenge, students connect with business mentors, startup incubators, and TEDx-style keynote speakers to develop essential employability skills, including leadership, innovation, communication, business agility, and networking.
Working in teams, they will bring their core value to solve real-world problems and prepare themselves for the future of work by learning how to rapidly make decisions and come up with creative, technology-based solutions.
Fellow challengers will have a chance to get benefit from masterclasses to develop their entrepreneurship, startup mindset, teamwork skills and get introduced to the Business Model Canvas covering topics such as customer segments, value proposition, and customer interviews.
Participants will build confidence and capability in digital literacy and critical technology skills by attending both live and virtual summits and mastermind sessions and preparing business pitches using the latest technology platforms.

FRANK is the agency facilitating the Challenge. It is an education company delivering face-to-face and virtual training in leadership, employability, and entrepreneurship around Australia and internationally.
The Joondalup Innovation Challenge was organised to be an in-person event for students in WA and virtual attendance for students out of Australia, but due to the recent COVID-19 lockdown in Perth being announced on 29th June 2021 and considering the health and safety of participants in mind, the event on 5th and 6th July 2021 will be 100% online.
The student teams will pitch their practical solutions to real problems during the Final Pitch Night on 9th July 2021 with the chance to win experiential prizes.
