One of the earlier entrants into mining tech and Internet of Things (IoT) space in WA, GET Trakka has been acquired by dual headquartered US and Australian firm CR.

According it its own website, CR (formerly CQMS Razer) is a “leader in engineering innovation and manufacturing of mining equipment”, including G.E.T. (ground engaging tools).

GET Trakka is an industry innovator with a field-proven system providing reliable sensor-based G.E.T. loss detection for mining equipment, along with data analysis and reporting systems for enhancing maintenance and productivity performance.

The company were a finalist in the WA Innovator of the Year competition in 2011, and formerly won a federal government Commercialisation Australian (now called ‘Accelerating Commercialisation’) grant in order to commercialise their tech.

The GET Trakka product solutions are based on ‘built-for-purpose’ industrial IOT platforms with embedded wireless sensors to provide productivity and safety products for the mining industry.

GET Trakka has enjoyed a solid reputation in the market through its owner and founder, Ian Hamilton.

The deal came into effect as of October 30th for GET Trakka and all of its associated IP. CR said in a press release that they are “proud to partner with Ian and his team to develop the product offering further.”

“The addition of GET Trakka will enhance CR’s business by adding proven tooth loss and productivity monitoring capability alongside their growing digital portfolio of mining technology and solidify CR’s position as the leading provider of technology-enabled G.E.T. solutions,” a CR spokesperson said.

The combination and integration of GET Trakka into CR’s product portfolio is an important milestone, the company said, as it builds upon its digital technology offering and to provide customers with new productivity-enhancing solutions.

The acquisition of GET Trakka is consistent with CR’s long-term business strategy of adding complementary products and services to their existing core business, the company said.
