Entries are now open for a prestigious awards program that recognises female-owned small businesses across Australia.
The Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards aim to spotlight the achievements of some of the nation’s most inspiring women in small business.
Coordinated by the small business Precedent Productions, the awards program features more than 55 small business award categories and four individual categories.
To qualify, the nominated business must be based in Australia and have a woman as a sole owner or at least 50% ownership and be the main business decision maker.
The portion of small businesses owned by females has steadily increased in the 20 years to 2020 according to a report from the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman. Women now represent more than a third of all small business owners.
Awards founder and Precedent Production managing director Steve Loe says there is no doubting the rising success of female small business owners from all corners of this country.
“Women are leaving their mark throughout Australia and contributing to the positive future of small business in many sectors and industries,” Mr Low said.
The 2022 Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Entrepreneur, Brenda Robinson, described the awards as a “huge honour and privilege”.
“It was also a great opportunity to confidently showcase my business Robinsons Honey and achieve global recognition and acknowledgement as a business leader from my peers and industry.”
The 2023 Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards will culminate in a National Presentation Evening Gala Event to be held on Saturday 23 September 2023 at the new Western Sydney Conference Centre at Penrith in NSW.
Looking through the 55 categories, there’s no ‘startup’ or ‘tech’, but there is an online, and multiple others startups may feel belong in.
Online entry to the 2023 Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards is free and will remain open until 21 July 2023.
