A national competition is being held in Queensland in November to crown the ‘Agripreneur of the Year’, with the winner moving on to compete on a global stage…
The Future Agro Challenge Australia (FAC) is currently open for applications and seeking agtech startups to compete for the chance to represent Australia in a global competition.
The FAC is a global platform bringing together food and agribusiness stakeholders and players to create what the organisers call “the acceleration process for agripreneurs and startups …. to fulfil their potential in finding solutions to local, regional and global challenges.”
As part of this, FAC holds the largest global competition that seeks to discover innovative fundable food, agtech, and agriculture ventures from various corners of the globe. The most promising ideas and ventures are selected to compete in the Global Championships for the title of ‘Agribusiness of the Year’.
FAC will be held for the third year running in the Atherton Tablelands region of the beautiful Far North Queensland on November 16 & 17 2018.
Attendees at this event will be the first to hear about the latest innovation in food, agtech and agriculture as agripreneurs from across Australia face off live on a national stage to compete for the honour of representing their country at the Global Future Agro Challenge.
The winner of the 2017 Future Agro Challenge Australia, AgUnity, went on to compete in the Global Championships held in Turkey earlier this year, and won the title of Agripreneur of the Year. To hear what David Davies of AgUnity has to say about the benefits to his business for entering the FAC Australia competition, visit the website or watch the video below.
Applicants for the Future Agro Challenge must meet the following criteria:
- Startups less than 5 years of operation
- Providing solutions/services to the agri sector
- Innovative or scalable business model
- Has initial traction or MVP
The event will comprise a welcome function on the evening of Friday 16th November followed by the formal pitching competition on the afternoon of Saturday 17th with a presentation dinner that evening including key note speaker, WA’s own Larry Lopez.
** UPDATE SINCE PUBLICATION **
Finalists invited to participate in the Future Agro Challenge Australia will be offered up to $500 to contribute to their travel and accommodation costs. We hope this will encourage some applicants from further afield to make the trip up to beautiful North Queensland.
Further, the winner of the Australian event will be representing Australia at the Future Agro Challenge Global event in Greece in May 2019. Travel and accommodation for one representative of the winning start-up will be provided as a prize.
Applications to enter the FAC close on 26th October.
