// The CORE Start Award aims to support resource tech startups by providing them with the resources to reach their full potential.
Being an early stage startup developing a transformative technology can be tricky at the best of times.
The ability to reduce overheads, increase industry profile and maximise potential customer connections is critical to ensuring the best chance of success.
CORE Innovation Hub, Australia’s first co-working, collaboration and innovation hub focused on resources technology has now opened applications for the third round of the CORE Start Award.
The CORE Start Award, sponsored by CORE foundation partners National Energy Resources Australia (NERA) and WesTrac, aims to help promising early stage energy and resources technology startups combat common challenges by providing three months of co-working at CORE Innovation Hub, coupled with facilitated industry connections, mentoring and network links to support the growth of their business.
CORE Innovation Hub General Manager Aaron Schier said he was looking forward to supporting the next round of innovative startups with disruptive technologies that can deliver significant value to Australia’s energy and resources sector.
“We are currently accepting applications from startups to pitch their business and describe how their tech can transform our industries, comprising mining, oil and gas, resources, energy, defence and space,” he said.
“The next two recipients of the CORE Start Award will be provided an environment that fosters connections between the tech entrepreneurial ecosystem and industry.”

Previous CORE Start Award recipient Chironix has recently moved into a larger office space in Perth. Chironix Managing Director, Daniel Milford said the company could not have asked for better industry champions.
“We’ve had an amazing time and must thank everyone at NERA and CORE Innovation Hub,” he said.
“[Their] support over the last year has been invaluable to the growth of Chironix as we have scaled from a team of 4 to 14 and counting.”
NERA CEO Miranda Taylor said that CORE provides a unique co-working space and an incubator of ideas for the resources and energy sector.
“Connecting, collaborating and transferring knowledge and skills are part of the building blocks of CORE, which is why NERA has been such a passionate supporter,” she said.
“CORE supports innovators to design, develop, commercialise and scale technology and services.”
