120 people packed into ThinkLab Coworking Monday night for the Startup News/Startup WA End of Year Party, which included one live podcast recording, two DJs, 3 awards and a Mayor…

When we re-launched Startup News back in 2018 after a 7 month hiatus (the site had originally launched in Jan 2014) we wanted to raise some upfront sponsorship dollars in order to pay the ongoing costs of the site, pay for uni media students to write content, perhaps launch a podcast and then, if there was any money left over, throw an end of year party.

Well, we ticked all that off the list, thank you very much to all our sponsors, supporters and readers.

And so it came to pass on Monday 3rd December down at Thinklab co-working space in Fremantle, 120 startuppy people turned up to hear from the Mayor of Fremantle, Brad Pettitt, witnessed a live podcast recording with VC Bill Tai, Noisy Guts cofounder Dr Mary Webberley and Startup News co-founder, now S.E. Asian located CTO, Marcus Holmes.

The podcast and a full gallery of photos will be published soon. It was a great night, there was an awesome vibe in the room, the beer and pizza flowed.

Startup News sponsors Tekkon, ECU The Link and BDO also announced 3 startup awards, as voted on by readers of Startup News.

In each category, over 30 people were voted on, and the winners are:

Most Admired Startup Supporter: Nate Sturcke (SOMA, Startup Weekends)
