With technology always available to us thanks to the smartphone, location data has grown in availability and popularity. So has the need for new businesses to rely on the insights gained from location data.
Location data – also known as geospatial data or geographic information – is the information that identifies the geographic location of natural or constructed features on Earth. Spatial data is usually stored as coordinates and topology and is data that can be mapped.
The 2020 SPUR Location Technology Accelerator program will offer $25,000 grant funding to up to six candidates who are using location data in new ways using emerging technology.
Successful candidates will also have access to government geospatial expertise for the 6-month grant period and information sessions from Landgate; Department of Finance; DevelopmentWA; and Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries on how to work with government in their relevant specialties.
The accelerator program is focussed on WA government location data, products, policies, and processes and includes seed funding for successful candidates.
“I am excited to support industry and government with this collaboration initiative, accelerating location and property data ideas into action,” said Landgate Chief Executive Graeme Gammie.
Applications for the SPUR Location Technology Accelerator program close on Friday 25 September.
