The 2020 SPUR program is supporting six local innovators with $25,000 grant funding and information sessions with insights into State Government data and processes.

The 2020 SPUR program is being delivered through a collaborative partnership between Landgate, Department of Finance, Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, DevelopmentWA and Curtin University. Applicants had to demonstrate how their product or service uses emerging technologies and location data to add value to the land and property sector.

The four winners are:

uDrew – a design and engineering platform empowering business and homeowners with the ability to design, engineer and manage their own custom-building projects, saving time and money.

Markr – a system created for the design, generation, placement and management of geo-located virtual signage.

The project will build on preliminary work undertaken by Curtin University and the Fraunhofer IOSB in Germany.

“We are absolutely thrilled to receive a spot in this years Landgate Accelerator, especially to be included among some of WA’s most exciting spatial companies and to be working with the heart of WA’s data expertise to create some exciting new & homegrown tech that can make real world differences.” Tom Young from uDrew told Startup News.

The grants will help these startups further develop their innovations.

“As a new geo-publisher we are thrilled to be a winner of the SPUR grant for 2020 and receive the recognition from one of the largest Geo location data users in WA,” Markr’s Ian Sloan told Startup News.

“The funds will allow us to add user check-in features that provide and measure location based interactions adding a lot of value to customers who want to connect with their Markr users.”
