Helium (https://helium.com) is one of the most exciting tech startup stories of the decade.
When Helium combined an Internet of Things (IoT) wireless router with their own $HNT cryptocurrency incentive model and blockchain, the result was explosive growth – now over 320K hotspots installed and growing at over 77K per month and a community of over 110K members.
Helium hotspots provide 1 to 20 km radius of standard LoRaWAN wireless coverage for small, cheap, long life, battery powered sensors to monitor temperature, location, sound, air quality etc.
Dubbed #ThePeoplesNetwork, Helium has a novel decentralised and open #Web3 business model that enables and/or incentivises participation through hosting, staking, improvement proposals, online committees, tokenised voting and decentralized manufacturing.
If thats not enough, the HNT token has grown 38X this year; Helium are enabling roaming for major competitors Senet and Actility; and adding cellular 5G and possibly Wifi protocols.
