Health Hackathon 2022 – Participant Registration

The WA 2022 Health Hackathon will bring together a diverse group of data professionals, digital specialists and students to explore innovative digital and data-driven solutions to real world healthcare challenges.

This is your opportunity to take part in an exciting week of innovation! Participants will be placed in teams of between three to five people. For those wanting to create their own team, each member must register separately and quote the agreed team name when registering. Registering to participate in the Hackathon will confirm your attendance at the collaboration sessions. There will be separate opportunities for you to register for the launch event and upskilling sessions.

During the Hackathon, teams will create prototype solutions for a range of healthcare challenges using techniques such as data analysis and visualisation, machine learning, predictive modelling, automation and digitisation. Teams will come together to ideate solutions, explore the data, develop concepts and finally present their solutions. Teams will be judged in two rounds by an expert panel based on the solution’s social impact, design principles, viability, innovation and scalability.

The winning team will walk away with a $5,000 cash prize thanks to our prize sponsors idoba, along with a prize package from Amazon Web Services (details to be announced shortly). The top three teams will also take part in a mentoring workshop provided by Perth Biodesign.

What will the WA Health Hackathon Involve?

Once registered, teams will receive further information on how to choose a challenge. Challenges will be open for selection at 9am on Monday, 25 July 2022. There will be a cap on the number of teams able to work on any particular challenge with selection occurring on a first come first serve basis. We suggest developing a priority list of challenges your team is interested in tackling prior to the challenge selection date and if you are particularly interested in a challenge to make sure you are ready to select your challenge as close to 9am on the 25 of July as possible.
