The 2022 Perth NASA Space Apps Challenge wrapped up for another year last week. It was Perth’s largest Space Apps hackathon to date, and the largest in Australia this year.
NASA Space Apps Perth Lead Conrad Pires said the level of excellence and innovation this year was “very high”, which made the judges “really work for their money” when deciding the winners.
The top three winners for Space Apps Perth 2022 were:
1st – Flat Moon Society (AUS)
2nd – The Kingstons
3rd – 60%
First place winner, Flat Moon Society (AUS) took up the challenge of developing an app that could plot the seismic data on an interactive 3-D globe, from passive seismic instruments left on the moon by the Apollo astronauts in the 1970s. This team now progresses to the NASA global nominee round.

“Space Hub Perth, the International Space Centre (ISC) and Venture would like to thank our sponsors and partners, our judges, our mentors and the rest of the Space Apps Perth team,” said Conrad Pires. “Without them, Space Apps wouldn’t be the success it was.”
