Founders of Western Australia’s most promising blue economy startups will have a chance to pitch to angles, VCs, lenders, government agencies and philanthropists at the upcoming Blue Growth Investment Forum 2022.
First held last year, the Forum will connect entrepreneurs, investors, project proponents and brokers from marine and similar industries to share insights and explore new opportunities in the growing sector.
Already the blue economy is of greater value than agriculture in the state. It is also forecasted to generate an additional 50,000 jobs to the state’s economy by the end of the decade/
Andrew Outhwaite, For Blue Managing Director, said the event was timely given significant changes in WA’s marine industries.
“In the past year I think all of us in the blue economy have noticed a really big increase in investment activity – and the rapid expansion in new types and mechanisms for investment,” he said.
Those pitching include:
- Daniel Orr, AquaFlights
- Graeme Attey, HIVAP
- Jochen Franke, Maretual
- Mick Holland, Fremantle Seaweed
- Tania Douthwaite, Blueback Yoga and Freediving
- Todd Mason, Glow Float
Along with the pitch session, the event will also feature panel presentations, deeper ‘fishbowl’ discussions and allow for networking.
The event, which will be held for half of the day, will take place at the Coogee Beach Surf Life Saving Club next Thursday, 10 November 2022.
The event is part of Blue Gravity and supported by For Blue, Impact Seed, the City of Cockburn and the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science, and Innovation.
Tickets are still available for the Blue Growth Investment Forum 2022 via Humanitix.
