Below is a breakdown of some of the grants that are currently available, with cut-off dates where applicable. If you know of any that we’ve missed, let us know and we’ll add them to the list.
Innovation Booster Grant
The Innovation Booster Grant is funded through the New Industries Fund and assists WA-based startups and small businesses in commercialising their innovative ideas or projects, and expanding to create jobs.
A maximum of $40,000 grant per application is available. Recipients are required to provide a net cash co-contribution of at least 20:80 applicant to WA government funding.
Innovation Booster Grants are awarded in any of the following four categories:
- Research and Development
- Product Development
- Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property (see below)
- Commercialisation Support Service (see below).
Grant applications are now open all year round with pre-set cut-off dates throughout the year when applications are assessed. The next cut-off dates are:
- 11:00 am (AWST), Thursday, 15 August 2024
- 11:00 am (AWST), Thursday, 17 October 2024

Commercialisation Bridge Grant
The Commercialisation Bridge Grant is a competitive WA government grant, funded through the New Industries Fund.
The grant has been designed to assist WA innovators in bridging the gap between a commercialised innovation and a sustainable, scalable business.
This grant is also open all year round with set cut-off dates for assessment. The next cut-off date is:
- 11:00 am (AWST), Thursday, 17 October 2024

Meshpoints — Lotterywest IdeaStarter Fund
This fund provides support for the validation or progress of early-stage innovations and ideas. It’s available only to existing incubator or accelerator programs operating in WA.

Catalyst Inspire funding is for initiatives that attract and activate participation in the WA innovation ecosystem, contributing to a stronger culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Meshpoints — Catalyst Create
Catalyst Create funding exists to establish new programs or initiatives that build capacity and capability in the WA innovation ecosystem, contributing to a strong culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

City of Perth Business Relocation Grants
The City of Perth is encouraging medium-sized businesses to relocate to the city through the Business Relocation Grant, which assists with the associated financial cost.
Grant funding starts at $25,000 (excluding GST) for eligible businesses that have:
- minimum 25 full time equivalent (FTE) employees; and
- can demonstrate relocation costs of at least $25,000.
The grant amount available increases by $1,000 per full time equivalent employee up to $50,000 (excluding GST) and the applicant must demonstrate an equivalent value in
relocation costs.

X-TEND WA
This is another grant program funder through the New Industries Fund. The current focus of the grant is to support projects and fund organisations that deliver innovator and/or investor educational programs. The fund will co-contribute up to $150,000 per successful application.
This includes programs that focus on:
- investor education
- corporate education
- broad ecosystem support including programs that are specifically aimed at developing regional and/or indigenous and/or female founders in Western Australia.
Grant applications are now open all year round with pre-set cut-off dates throughout the year when applications are assessed. The next cut-off date is:
- 11:00 am (AWST), Friday 30 August 2024

Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants
The RED Grants program is a State Government initiative that invests in locally driven projects that support efforts to create long-term economic growth and job sustainability in our regions.
Eligible applicants can apply for funding for individual projects that contribute to increasing or sustaining jobs, expanding, or diversifying industry, developing skills or capability, increasing business productivity, and attracting new investment to the regions.
The next closing date for applications is 26 June 2024.
