Australian renewable energy startups looking to scale globally now have a golden opportunity to tap into India’s booming clean tech sector, with CSIRO’s RISE Accelerator open for applications, and you have until June 30th to apply.
Now in its third round, the Renewable Innovation for a Sustainable Economy (RISE) Accelerator is designed to help high-growth Australian startups and SMEs commercialise their solar, wind, hydrogen, or battery technologies in India, one of the world’s fastest-growing clean energy markets.
Funding and fast-tracked market access
Successful applicants can access up to $135,000 in non-equity grant funding, subject to performance milestones and a competitive selection process. However, funding is only part of the drawcard.
The 2025 RISE cohort will also receive:
- fast-track access to Indian partners, customers and supply chains
- direct engagement with funders, regulators, researchers, and distributors
- tailored one-on-one coaching and domain expertise
- support in navigating complex regulatory environments and go-to-market pathways
Who should apply?
The program is open to Australian startups and SMEs with deployable, innovative technologies in the fields of:
- Solar PV
- Wind energy
- Hydrogen
- Battery storage
Applicants are encouraged to respond to at least one of the following challenge statements:
- Can you advance clean and renewable energy, critical mineral and materials processing, recovery and or reuse?
- Can you advance designs, technologies, components, infrastructure or manufacturing pathways for enhanced performance, durability and lifespans?
- Can software, hardware and or digital systems enhance the manufacturing, asset management, storage and deployment of clean and renewable energy?
A strategic launchpad into India
India’s renewable energy goals present a significant export and collaboration opportunity for Australian innovators. With this accelerator, CSIRO is building a bridge between the two innovation ecosystems, helping commercial-ready tech find real-world deployment and impact.
