The Cook Government is looking for a business to anchor its new advanced manufacturing hub in the South West, opening a Request for Proposal that runs until September 30th.
“The Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub will transform the South West manufacturing industry and now is the time for businesses who want to take a major role as the anchor tenant to come on board,” Manufacturing Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said.
The South West Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub, known as AMTECH, is being built at Picton, near Bunbury. The government has committed $55 million towards activating the land and establishing a manufacturing facility, with earthworks having already started on site.
The successful anchor tenant will establish and operate an advanced manufacturing facility, working with the state to produce the parts needed to support Western Australia’s transition away from state-owned coal by 2030. DevelopmentWA is overseeing construction, and the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification is running the search for a tenant.
Manufacturing is one of the South West’s largest industries, contributing almost $9.9 billion to state output over the past year and generating around 9% of the region’s employment.
South West Minister Don Punch added, “The South West has a proud manufacturing history, and AMTECH will help build on that legacy by creating new jobs, attracting businesses, and growing the local economy.”

Businesses can submit proposals through the WA Government’s website until September 30th.
