You may already be aware, dear reader, that the national biotech industry conferences AusBiotech 2022 and AusBioInvest 2022 will be in Perth 26-28 October. It’s the first time this conference has been out of Melbourne in 15 years, so is quite a coup (and opportunity) for our state. If you are involved in, or are interested in, the biotech/medtech sector, then this is the conference for you…

Monday 24 October (pre-conference)

  • Pre-conference workshop:  How to set up for success when establishing an R&D or commercialisation presence in Australia, 1-4pm, Deloitte, Lvl 9, 123 St Georges Terrace, Perth, Free

Tuesday 25 October (pre-conference)

  • Bush Medicine and Bush Tucker Workshop including lunch, 8:30am -12:45pm, $110pp, with Vivienne Hansen, Prof Birger Lindberg-Moller and Marissa Verma (Bindi Bindi Dreaming)
  • Bridge Program seminar, from QUT Bridge Program, UWA and MTPConnect featuring keynote from Dr Anand Gautam, Pfizer and roundtable discussion with Prof Lyn Griffiths (QUT), Dr Jarrod Belcher (MTPConnect) and Dr Anand Gautam (Pfizer), 10:30am – 1pm, Harry Perkins Institute Auditorium (includes lunch) – Free
  • Pre-conference facilities tour:  1- 4pm, passengers board coach at Plaza Entry Level 1, PCEC – Free
    • Bus tour of the UWA QEII Innovation Precinct, then a session at Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research to hear from some of WA’s leading MTP organisations about their facilities and capabilities, followed by afternoon tea
    • WA-based individuals can join the tour at the Harry Perkins Institute from 1:45pm
    • Optional add-on site tours: Telethon Kids Institute (within the Perth Children’s Hospital) OR DUG to see their high-performance super-computing facility. Register

Wednesday 26 October (conference)

  • To those attending the conference, please come visit the ‘Team WA’ booth in the Exhibition Hall. Organised by Life Sciences WA and supported by Business Events Perth, WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub and JTSI, the booth will be showcasing 20 WA life science organisations.

Thursday 27 October (conference)

  • Keep your eyes peeled today for City of Perth buildings lit up in green for AusBiotech
  • Includes AusBioInvest and AgBioTech Summit (one day events)
  • Good luck to WA companies presenting at AusBioInvest: Orthocell, Emyria, Argenica Therapeutics, and WA-born companies: Respirion Pharmaceuticals and Dimerix
  • AusBiotech Conference Dinner, 7pm – 10pm, PCEC

Friday 28 October (conference)

  • Conference day 3, 9am – 2:45pm
  • Includes Early-Stage Investment Forum

Monday 31 October (post-conference)

  • Biodesign Showcase: presentations from Biodesign programs around the world and from startup companies founded through Biodesign Australia, Annual Biomedical Engineering Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship Alliance APAC meeting, 8:30am – 6:00pm, Harry Perkins North, McCusker auditorium – Free
