Featuring Proteomics International – commercialising diagnostic tests for chronic diseases where there is unmet medical need.

The morning will feature a conversation with Proteomics International’s Founder and Managing Director Dr Richard Lipscombe. Proteomics International (ASX: PIQ; Perth, Western Australia) is a medical technology company at the forefront of predictive diagnostics and bio-analytical services. Proteomics International’s business model centres on the commercialisation of the company’s world-leading predictive test for diabetic kidney disease, PromarkerD. The company offsets the cash burn from R&D and product development through provision of specialist analytical services across the globe, whilst using its proprietary Promarker® technology platform to create a pipeline of novel diagnostic tests.

Dr Richard Lipscombe is a protein chemist by training having completed his chemistry degree at Oxford University and a Doctorate in Immunology at London University. Richard moved to Perth in 1995 and managed the Protein Analysis Facility at the University of Western Australia, before stepping out of academia to co-found Proteomics International in 2001. Richard’s career has focused on industry-based research and the translation of innovative technology into commercial products and services. Richard led the company through its ASX listing in 2015 and now heads the corporate development and the commercialisation of its ground-breaking technologies. He is an inventor of several patents and, almost uniquely, has taken a protein biomarker from concept to commercial diagnostic test, with the company’s pioneering prognostic test for diabetic kidney disease, PromarkerD, now in the clinic.

He will discuss his company’s experience developing a medtech product within Australia’s R&D framework, raising investment in WA, and take questions from the audience.

If you have any queries please get in touch with Dr Tracey Wilkinson at [email protected].
