The MTPConnect WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub invites you to join the monthly WA MTP Sector Spotlight Series event in partnership with the WA AustCyber Innovation Hub.

About this event

Our monthly series is an opportunity for representatives from across the MTP sector to connect, collaborate and learn about upcoming opportunities, and hear the stories and successes of WA organisations developing health and medical innovations. Join us over light refreshments each month at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

This month’s theme is ‘Get Serious about Cyber Security for Life Sciences’.

Have you wondered what the recent medical insurance cyber attacks mean for you, your company, and your patients? What is good cyber security practice? How do you protect your data?

This Spotlight is an opportunity for representatives from across the MTP sector to connect, collaborate and learn about cyber security and why it matters for companies, innovators, and researchers.

About our speaker – Glenn Murray, Venture Partner at FundWA

Glenn is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in leading multi-million-dollar projects in ASX listed companies. Primarily focused in the application of information, communications, technology and cybersecurity solutions across the oil and gas, public, mining, heavy vehicle manufacturing, mining, defence (Electronic Warfare) and telecommunication industries, Glenn also has had significant “hands on” experience in designing and architecting cybersecurity solutions.

Glenn is currently focused on growing the startup ecosystem for WA, through implementation of an innovation precinct and as a venture partner at FundWA. Glenn is also passionate about encouraging the next generation of cybersecurity professionals and has started a cybersecurity pathway program. He has a proven history of thought leadership through presenting at industry events, TEDx, magazine publications, academic publications, news articles and media interviews.

Glenn is near completion of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cybersecurity and also holds a Masters in Systems Engineering and a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering with 1st class Honors.

About our speaker Daniel Benporath, Deputy Global CISO, Head of IT Security APAC at APM Group

Dan has worked in the Cyber Security industry for nearly 20 years having worked in the Education, Resources, Financial and Human Services sectors. During his career he has held roles in all facets of security including consulting, awareness and incident response. He is currently the Deputy Global CISO, Head of IT Security APAC for the APM Group, which is a Global Human Services company based in Perth operating in 12 countries and supporting over 1 Million clients annually.
