Designing your startup’s culture – with Mark Lakewood (Twilio)

When building organisations we often talk about what’s being built, revenue, number of people, business plans etc. But often the more important part is the culture, and how that drives the organisation to make decisions.

Armed with first-hand experience at a hyper-growth startup in San Francisco, Mark Lakewood has grown an appreciation for the importance of culture in an organisation’s success as well as an individual’s success.

In this session, Mark will share some experiences and lessons to draw from these, along with some practical advice when thinking about culture in your organisation.

About Mark

Mark Lakewood is a Dad and a Platform Architect at Twilio. He grew up down south in Bunbury, before moving to Perth and doing Computer Science and Film at Murdoch University.

Mark and his wife decided to move to San Francisco in 2013, where he boarded the good (Rocket)ship Twilio. He has just recently moved back to Perth, and is getting back into the swing of the West Australian lifestyle.
