🔹 Peter Damen, Alliance Director, Sustainability Waste Alliance
Peter Damen is a recognised expert in emerging transport technologies, sustainable building practices, and in infrastructure planning and design. With over 30 years of experience in the sector, Peter has played pivotal roles in major transport projects in Australia and internationally. As the Managing Director of Level 5 Design, he leads nationwide initiatives to enhance transport technology and infrastructure outcomes. Peter is also the Program Director at the Sustainability Waste Alliance Innovation Hub, focusing on innovative resource management practices. His commitment extends to his roles as Director of Innovate Australia and as Alliance Director at the Green Deal Alliance, where he champions advancing the use of innovative sustainable low carbon recovered materials in Australia’s transport sector.

🔹 Mauricio Olivares, Operations & Project Vice-President, SQM
Mauricio Olivares is the Operations and project Vice President of SQM, bringing over two decades of expertise in industrial engineering from Chile to Australia. Previously at Covalent Lithium, he managed significant projects worth up to $2 billion. His extensive experience includes pivotal roles at SQM, overseeing projects and operations across multiple locations. Mauricio is celebrated for his strategic leadership in process optimisation and a strong commitment to safety, substantially impacting operational excellence within the mining, chemical, and metallurgical industries.
🔹 Matt Devlin, Managing Director, Hollywood Minerals
Matt Devlin is the Managing Director of Hollywood Minerals and currently oversees the construction of Tailings Storage Facilities, bringing over 15 years of extensive experience in the mining sector. His role includes managing environmental approvals, contractor performance, and unique geotechnical challenges associated with tailings. Known for his expertise in transforming tailings from liability into valuable assets, Matt has a strong operational and project management background across various mining projects, from studies and startups to operational challenges and mine closures. Adept in stakeholder engagement, Matt excels in building sustainable relationships and high-performance teams to deliver innovative and sustainable mining solutions.
🔹 Andonis Missikos, Chair of Green Deal Alliance
Andonis Missikos, Chair of the Sustainability Waste Alliance and the Green Deal Alliance at the Office of Major Transport Infrastructure Delivery, brings extensive experience in sustainability and infrastructure development. With a background in civil engineering from The University of Western Australia, Andonis has spent over four years driving strategic initiatives that collaborate across government and industry to promote new green commodities and sustainable practices. His leadership in the innovative Product Stewardship Scheme, which seeks Federal Government accreditation, underscores his commitment to enhancing environmental stewardship through practical and impactful solutions.
🔹 Colleen Yates, CEO, Regional Development Australia – Perth
Colleen Yates has been the CEO of Regional Development Australia – Perth since 2013, where she has spurred significant business investment and job creation. Her leadership led to the economic development strategy for Perth and Peel and the creation of the Perth DroneHub, turning innovative visions into reality. Colleen, an MBA graduate from the University of Western Australia, excels in inclusive leadership, strategic thinking, and effective communication. With a 35-year career spanning private, government, and non-profit sectors, she has demonstrated expertise in implementing change, engaging stakeholders, and simplifying complex challenges. She is pivotal in fostering regional innovation and development.
🔹 Jakub Wilchelm, CEO of Perfect Metals Pty Ltd
Jakub Wilchelm, currently serving as the CEO of Perfect Metals Pty Ltd and Director at JLLV Holdings Pty Ltd, brings a wealth of experience in business leadership and strategic development to this summit. With a career spanning over a decade in roles such as Head of Foreign Trade Office for the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in Australia and New Zealand and Director of General Management at Conbelts Australia, Jakub has profound mining and metals industry expertise. His background in managing international operations and strategic partnerships across Europe, Asia, and Australia equips him with unique insights into the recycling and reuse of mine tailings.
The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Peter Damen.
