Meet the Innovator – Roborigger
17 March, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
CORE Innovation Hub’s Meet the Innovator is a monthly conversation series that gives you an opportunity to hear from some of Perth’s most innovative founders, co-founders, business leaders and entrepreneurs in the mining, energy, resources, gas and oil, space, defence and technology sectors.
Join Roborigger founder, Derick Markwell as we share the new way of thinking about crane lifting and logistics operations – where people make the decisions and become the controllers and machines do the physical work. Derick will share the Roborigger journey from inception (hint: conference networking session not unlike the Meet the Innovator event!) through to commercialisation and Series A investment by Blackbird Ventures.
This is your opportunity to get behind the scenes look of an innovation that grabbed 3 platinum awards at the WA Innovator of the Year and is recognised by WorkSafe WA as the Best Solution to Work Health and Safety Risk in 2019, as well as learn how our operation grew off the parking lot of our West Perth office to 15 member strong team (and growing!) with a production facility in Wangara, WA.
What you’ll learn
- How to take an innovative idea solving a real-world challenge to the market
- Why the Roborigger technology was developed and how it evolves to solve what the industry needs
- The value of working with industry partners and building the team from the ground up
Roborigger founder, Derick Markwell, is a qualified structural engineer with more than 25 years of offshore experience in construction and drilling projects. Roborigger is a spin-off of TENSA Equipment, a company Derick founded in 2009 to develop a range of products to improve safety and efficiency in onshore and offshore drilling and construction market.
Derick is also a founder of ICON Engineering where he was responsible for the development of their line of conductor tensioners and clamps. Derick spent 6 years with West Australian Petroleum (a Chevron affiliate) firstly as a Construction Manager for new developments, and then Chief Facilities Engineer for the Barrow Island asset.
Roborigger technology reflects these years of expertise, combining innovation and sound theoretical design with the simplicity and robustness necessary to maintain equipment functionality in the environment of hard knocks.
*This event will operate within the Covid guidelines at the time. Further updates will be provided to guests closer to the date.
