Running over the weekend from 12-14th August, Startup Weekend focuses on pitching, business model creation, prototyping, designing and market validation all in a friendly and supportive team environment.

This event is for everyone, whether you’re 18 or 88, or whether you have an idea or no idea, everyone is welcome. It will be held at Riff, which is powered by Spacecubed.

Many exciting ventures have evolved thanks to Startup Weekend, including last year’s winners Envited who have gone on to raise $350,000.

You can expect both professional and personal challenges, highs and lows, and failures and successes. Whether participants found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new or learn a new skill, everyone is guaranteed to have a heap of fun.

What’s even more exciting is thanks to a newly announced sponsor of the event, Capricorn, they are challenging interested participants to come up with an innovative idea to mitigate risk in respect to their current operations.

However, participants still have the opportunity to come up with their own startup ideas over the weekend if they choose.

Or, they can take on this challenge and pitch their idea to the senior leaders at Capricorn who will invest in them, and their idea, by funding their participation in Plus Eight Sprint, a six-week business development program.
