Perth-founded visual communications platform Canva has acquired Flourish, a UK data acquisition company in its rapidly growing portfolio of services and offers for design beginners and creative veterans alike on its platform.
The announcement comes as the company said it had reached more than 75 million monthly active users, an increase of more than 30 million in the last year with a growing demand for more easy-to-use, accessible and affordable visual communication features, which has been delivered with the acquisition.
With the acquisition of Flourish, Canva will now allow users who are looking to create vibrant display data. Canva continues to be a favourite in the design community and has found itself to become common in workplaces across the world for engaging presentations, reports and other visual communications.
In a e-statement made by Canva co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins, she welcomed the 44-strong team and cites that the acquisition marks “(Canva’s) official expansion (into) the UK and Europe”.
Flourish, founded in 2016 by Duncan Clark and Robin Houston, was created to make data compelling. The company has since grown to over 800,000 users globally and more than 9.5M visualisations to date. In 2017, the London startup raised over $1M in seed funding.
You can now add range of different Flourish visualisations to your Canva presentations and graphics from today. To get started, just log in to Canva, choose the Flourish app under “More” on the left and choose a project. You will need a Flourish account to use its features in Canva.
There is no doubt that the acquisition has made Canva one of the biggest names in the design and tech world, following a very successful 2021. The company is now valued at $65B, a $10B increase from it’s last valuation in September 2021.
With more than 500 million presentations and over 150 million infographics having been created in Canva, Flourish will be able to integrate its technology which allows for more engaging and interactive data to be presented.
Canva is available on desktop, web, iOS, and Android.
