2021 WA Innovator of the Year program

At the usual launch breakfast up at Fraser’s Tuesday morning, the who’s who of Perth’s innovation scene were there, as the WA Innovator of the Year program was launched. This year, new sponsor Wesfarmers are introducing the ‘Wesfarmers Wellbeing Award’ award for the best idea, tech, service or product that promotes well-being. $140K of prizes available.

Curtinnovation Awards

These annual awards are open to the general public for only the second time and are for anyone with a vision for an exciting new product or service, which they can develop in collaboration with Curtin University.

Applicants who submit an idea can win a share of a prize pool valued at up to $100,000, and the opportunity to connect with Western Australia’s research, business and investor community.

In addition to cash prizes, this year’s prize pool includes scholarships to the Curtin Ignition and Curtin Accelerate programs valued at up to $3,250 and $5,000 respectively.

Applications are open to Curtin staff, current and prospective students, as well as current and prospective industry collaborators and close on 11 June 2021. Winners will be announced in September.

2021 Premier’s Science Awards

The 2021 Premier’s Science Awards are also open for applications. The Premier’s Science Awards recognise and celebrate the research, study and engagement achievements of the Western Australian science community across all fields of science, including natural, medical, applied and technological science, engineering and mathematics.

The WA Science Hall of Fame was established in 2007 to recognise exceptional lifelong contributions from Western Australians to science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Western Australians who are pre-eminent in their field should be considered for induction into the WA Science Hall of Fame.

Springboard (SBE) Evolve Program

SBE’s Evolve is an 8-week program for Women Entrepreneurs. Join an exclusive network of women entrepreneurs and learn how to grow your business in a way that’s sustainable, scalable, and most importantly, successful.

Apply for the upcoming SBE Evolve, which will be based out of Perth, although a hybrid model, meaning weeks 1 and 7 will be face to face in WA, and the rest will be virtual. SBE Australia is a not-for-profit that runs leading accelerator programs for all stages of business, supporting women from the ideation stage, through to start-up and scale-up stages of business.

SBE is currently recruiting for women based in WA who are interested in taking their business to the next level. The program will run from the week starting the 7th of June 2021.

Climate Launchpad

ClimateLaunchpad is the world’s biggest clean tech and green business ideas competition, run by the European Union’s Climate Innovation Initiative.

This year, there’s a new prize – a $50,000 development grant for the best “emerging tech” idea. The program includes a 3-day bootcamp, training and mentoring, and applications are now open and close on April 22. Participation in the program is free of charge.
