A collection of this month’s startup scene news.

The This Week in Startups Australia Podcast did a thing on Perth:

StartupWA launched this week, the  “peak body” designed to raise the startup community’s profile with government. They’ve got a survey up on their site that takes a couple of minute to fill in and will help them:

The Venture – a slightly strange enterprise accelerator type thingy, by a whisky distiller, looking for social enterprises. https://www.theventure.com/au/en/

Chivas Regal has today announced the Australian launch of The Venture, a global search for the most promising social entrepreneurs: those with businesses or ideas that use enterprise and innovation as a force for doing good. For the first time Australian’s (sic) will have the opportunity to take part in the initiative, giving local social entrepreneurs the chance to take their ideas global, with a share of $1 million up for grabs.

Lesanz is holding another Pitch Night, always well-organised and attended:

Support Docmosis, a fellow Perth startup in this competition. Founder Graham Hughes sent us this:

We have been plugging away at our business – Docmosis – for the last few years and having some reasonable success.  But we’ve never really made any noise about it.
We’ve got some good local customers.  eg. The WA Education Dept uses our software to make all the School Reports for the State.  But most of our customers are USA/Europe.
We have just submitted our video entry to the SaaStr – Show us your SAAS – competition.

We’d love it if some //Startup News readers would help us get some more votes!

Techboard got into their stride this month, if you haven’t claimed your startup profile, then head over there and do it now: http://techboard.com.au/

They’re also running fortnightly onboarding and video sessions which are fun, so hit them up to find the next one.

Finally, we’re re-launching our Events Page, here. If you’ve got any startup scene events, please let us know (info@startupnews.com.au) and we’ll post it.

Hope y’all had a great September. Have a relaxing long weekend, it’s finally warming up again!
