Nick Sas, Technology Reporter from The West is launching a new tech page soon and to kick it off he wants your help.
The team at Startup News love helping startups, so when Nick got in touch a while ago and said they were going to launch a local tech and startups page on The West, we were all for it. We have long felt the major media have ignored the local entrepreneurs unless they were in mainstream business. So to have a popular and well regarded publication like The West want to give some publicity to Startups was a breath of fresh air.
But this is where you Mr Entrepreneur steps in, read on and get your typing fingers working.
Nick said;
“After I had a chat to my editor, we’re introducing a page within the new thewest.com.au tech page called The Pitch.
It’ll give Perth start-ups/app developers/tech people a forum to show off their business idea, kinda like a Kickstarter profile but without the money part.
Being a one-man show, it’s a bit hard for me to find the time to profile everyone.
So we want you to explain your idea in 250-300 words (strictly) — as if you were explaining it at the end of a start-up weekend — with a photo of the people involved (remember it has to be published so high-res).
With the following format:
Business name:
Catch phrase:
Funding achieved:
Then the 250-300 word synopsis of the business following these general themes:
How the idea came about?
Who is involved?
Why is the product needed?
How will it change things?
Where you want to be in a year from now?
I’ll edit it and it’ll go live on the website.
Nick says if he can get 10 by Wednesday next week, it’ll go live.”
Some criteria are;
- They have to be Perth-based
- At least reasonably established
- Prefer start-ups with some sort of $$ backing behind them, but will be assessed case-by-case.
